THE LARGEST “Outdoor Museum in the World”
“Rapa Nui” -the indigenous name of Easter Island- had a unique development and history. There are over 900 statues -Moais, made of volcanic rock, some as tall as ten meters (33 feet) located mostly around the coast. How they were built and transported remains a mystery to this day. I. Dream
The hotel is located 1 km away from the airport and walking distance to the town of Hanga Roa. All programs include transfer to-and-from the airport.
For the adventurous traveler who walks at his own rhythm, the DREAM program is our room-and-breakfast alternative. Once you arrive at the hotel if you want, one of our Naturalist Guides can help you organize an itinerary catering to your interests.

The Full Experience is the ideal program for the discerning guest who appreciates having everything at their fingertips. It includes room and three meals, breakfast, lunch and dinner à-la-carte, and two half-day excursions with one of our guided tours for every night of the stay.

ARCHEOLOGY AND HERITAGE
The Moai, the island’s gigantic stone statues are the most unique and idiosyncratic elements of the Rapa Nui culture. Today, the island is considered “A Wonder of the World,” and a UNESCO Heritage Site: a reflection of the awe and curiosity that it awakens in all visitors. Nobody knows how the statues were created but they attest to the courage, ingenuity and determination of the human spirit. It is believed that every Moai represents an ancestor, a leader, a beloved forefather. Until today, the faces of the statues are called “Aringa Ora,” living faces of loved and revered ancestors.
WALKING, HIKING AND OBSERVATION
Home to an enigmatic civilization, Rapa Nui is considered the most remote inhabited island on the planet. You can explore the island on foot, bike, motorcycle or by hiking, every time discovering a mysterious and fascinating culture. Bike through archaeological remains and the Ana Kakenga cave; trek the island’s first volcano enjoying the Poike reforested park; or hike the Ara Moai, one of the most important volcanic craters on the island. In all activities, you’ll encounter Moais and learn about the ways we think these statues were sculpted and craft your own theory relating to their mysterious transportation.
BEACHES, SNORKELING AND SCUBA DIVING
Walking and hiking along the coast you’ll come face to face with archaeological sites right on the beaches. How the Rapa Nui transported those gigantic stones to the beach will always be a mystery. Bring a bathing suit and you can enjoy the pristine waters. We can arrange (an outside private company) for a snorkeling adventure along the caves or weather permitting a scuba diving expedition.
ON-PROPERTY
The architecture of the Nayara Hangaroa pays tribute to the Orongo ceremonial village.. A competition, the Tangata Manu, took place among the villagers to obtain the first egg of the season belonging to the Manu Tara bird. The hotel design, with its grass roofs, colors and textures, blends with the environment and creates a harmonious interplay. Native plants make up the unique landscape and as you walk through the hotel you will feel connected to the earth, to the history of the island and to the planet.
